STORYHIVE: KICKSTARTER-INSPIRED GRANT PLATFORM OPENS UP TO VICTORIA’S CONTENT CREATORS

Posted on October 28th, 2014

Here is a major opportunity to receive funding for your next creative video project!

STORYHIVE is a kickstarter-inspired online platform conceived by TELUS where local content creators can pitch their ideas for a chance at grant funding and exposure. Through it, they can earn themselves funding to produce their passion projects by getting their community to back them and vote on their project. Winners will also get exposure, something that TELUS is uniquely positioned to provide them through its Optik TV On Demand service.

After a successful first season that saw 20 short film producers in Vancouver (10), Calgary (5) and Edmonton (5) win $10,000 grants each as well as distribution of their finished work through Optik TV, TELUS is excited to be extending this program to Victoria for Season 2!

Just launched, the new season will be a special web series edition and is open for entries from October 14 – November 3 (those hoping to participate will need to act fast!). Check out the trailer above for a quick overview of the program.

STORYHIVE Season 2 will have two stages:

Stage 1: October 14 – December 15
o Through a social voting window, the top 30 finalists will be selected in BC and Alberta
o 15 x $10,000 grants per province will be awarded to the finalists to develop a web series

o This is a total of $300,000 to invest in local talent and locally produced content in BC and
